Jett’s Wild Flight: The Zoo!

By: Jett Lillie, 8/18/22

Hello and welcome to the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, RI. As you may know, my name is Jett and I’m going to be your “Zoofari” tour guide here at the zoo. When we walked into the zoo we first found a Zebra and an ostrich. We then found the Soaring Eagle Zipline ride, similar to the one I rode in South Dakota. My mom and I did it and we had a blast!

Then we kept going. If you look over to your right (or below), you’ll see a bald Eagles and one Golden Eagle. This was my favorite exhibit.

We kept going on our journey. We saw people big and small chasing an Armadillo trying to pet it in the petting zoo. (Why would anyone want to pet that thing?) We saw some rattle snakes and a really cute Red Panda that was very active.

Inside a building there were otters and a colorful toucan.

After that we saw a GIANT Ant Eater! (Sorry ants!)

We got see a lot of unique animals. Although I had fun, it just didn’t feel right without my favorite little man, Bennie!

Jaycie’s Bunny Hoppin’ News: Mystic

By: Jaycie Lillie, 8/19/22

We checked in at the Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, Connecticut [Just over the border from Rhode Island] and looked around. We saw a Beluga whale! When we walked up there we realized there was a whole family of them! Two kids in a smaller tank in the back, and 3 adults up front. One was swimming close to us and them blowing at us. He was a show off! [Ha ha!]

We heard an announcement that there was Sea Lion show so we headed over to get seats. The Sea Lions jumped and danced and smiled! There were 3 California Sea Lions who were the stars of the show.

After the show, we continued to walk around. We saw more animals such as seals, penguins, frogs and turtles. We then entered the indoor part of the aquarium.

The jellyfish were my favorite! [Momma’s too!] They called them “Jellies.” Check out these with color changing lights!!!

After the aquarium, we went to the Mystic Seaport Museum that had ships and boats. We learned about the sailors that would go on a whaling expedition. They only packed 2 pairs of clothes which had to last them for at least a year and up to 3 years. [EEEW!] The only thing to wash in was salt water! [YUCKY!] We got our chance to pull hard and raise a sail on flag pole in a grassy area. It was fun.

We left after awhile and then headed to a beach! And there was parking!!!! The beach was a bit small, though. But that also meant less people. The beach is my favorite! The End.
